1. Introduction

Clipstash ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application that lets you bookmark timestamps in YouTube videos. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: If you create an account for cloud sync, we collect your email address and display name.
  • Bookmark data: Video URLs, timestamps, labels, notes, and folder organization you create within the app.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device model, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
  • Usage analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics such as feature usage frequency and session duration. We do not track which videos you bookmark.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not access your YouTube account or credentials.
  • We do not download, store, or cache any YouTube video content.
  • We do not collect your location, contacts, or photos.
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Clipstash service.
  • To sync your bookmarks across devices if you opt in to cloud sync.
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs.
  • To send important service notifications (e.g., security alerts).
  • To respond to your support requests.

4. Data Storage & Security

4.1 Local Storage (Free & Pro Lifetime)

By default, all your bookmarks and data are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. We have no access to locally stored data.

4.2 Cloud Storage (Pro Cloud)

If you enable cloud sync, your bookmark data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256) on our servers. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

4.3 Data Retention

Local data persists until you uninstall the app or manually delete it. Cloud data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, all cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

5. Third-Party Services

Clipstash integrates with the following third-party services:

  • YouTube Embedded Player: We use YouTube's official IFrame API to play videos. YouTube's own privacy policy applies to video playback.
  • Google Play Billing: In-app purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not store your payment information.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: Anonymous crash reports help us fix bugs. No personal data is included in crash reports.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data at any time within the app.
  • Export your bookmarks from the app.
  • Delete your data by clearing app data or deleting your cloud account.
  • Opt out of analytics by disabling usage analytics in app settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Clipstash is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the app and on our website. Your continued use of Clipstash after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
